A brief history of
Chinese Wushu Research Institute (G.B.)
established 1987

Chinese Wushu Research Institute (G.B.) was founded in 1987 by Master Brian McKinney. Brian had been teaching a variety of martial arts and tai chi in Britain since 1977. While studying Wushu in the Peoples Republic of China, Brian met with officials of the Chinese Wushu Research Institute (P.R.China). He was kindly granted permission to establish Chinese Wushu Research Institute (G.B.). After 1987 Brian’s various martial art and tai chi clubs were brought under the mantle of Chinese Wushu Research Institute (G.B.)

In 1988, Brian’s foundation of Chinese Wushu Research Institute (G.B.) was recorded in China Wushu magazine, the foremost wushu magazine in the Peoples Republic of China.
